Aurorasaurus
Science Education Solutions was integral to the development of the Aurorasaurus citizen science project which gathers real-time data about aurora sightings and sends notifications to users when the Northern Lights are likely visible in their area. Today, the project is supported by NASA in service to the nation.
Aurorasaurus has significantly improved nowcasting of the aurora using volunteered citizen science reports and crowd-sourced ground truth observations of aurora via Twitter.
Registered users get location-based notifications, a real-time monitor of space weather activity, the capability to help verify tweets and search for real sightings, answers to auroral science questions, and more.
Aurorasaurus is free and built for the public. If you are planning a trip to the far north or south, use Aurasaurus to determine the best viewing times.
